As some of your may know, 2016 sees the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme. As part of the national commemorations, two of our pupils have been offered the unique opportunity to travel to the Somme to take part in a community-focused commemorative project.

Tom and Will, accompanied by Scott and Tom, left a chilly Leeds at 07:00 this morning and will be travelling to the battlefields of the Ypres Salient (Belgium) and The Somme (France) on a 3 night/4 day tour.

The boys will be posting photos of their journey on our Twitter account, which you can find at the bottom of this page.  Alternatively you can search for us: @josephnorton001.

This is the first time pupils from Joseph Norton have joined a trip outside of the UK and we are extremely proud of the hard work and effort both boys have put into meeting all the targets we set for them over the past 6 months.

Have a great time boys!  We will miss you.
