What an amazing start we have had to this school year. Group 6 have started to find our feet and how we all can contribute something to such an amazing group by being individuals. Each person brings something unique to our group .

This week we have been very busy, getting involved in lots of different activities and learning, but also having lots of fun at the same time! We absolutely loved going indoor caving on our outdoor education lesson, most of us enjoyed making humus in our cooking lesson (some of us didn’t like the taste of it though…an opinion shared by some of the staff). Everyone has continued getting to know each other and to be part of our group.

Our topic this half term is Darwin. This week we have been looking at evolution and adaptation and why certain animals have certain psychical traits. We have also looked at where Darwin used to live and conducted our own investigation into his office space, where our intrepid detectives noted many interesting things.

McKenna not very impressed that he isn’t the tallest member of Group 6.

We couldn’t spend time outside and the rain made us all feel a little bit glum, so in true group 6 fashion, we made the most of it! We got out the face masks, foot salts and moisturisers and we all had an amazing pampering session.

We went outside and gathered things from nature, we felt the textures and looked at the colours, and then we tried to create our own piece of nature using art. Making the most of a rainy afternoon.

For our topic work we looked at different animals and we thought all about why these animals looked like they did, then we began to think about what these psychical adaptations could be used for.
